congress format
The Florence 2009 scientific programme starts on Friday August 28 and closes on Tuesday September 1, 2009.
The scientific programme will include plenary sessions, thematic sessions, invited lectures, round tables, meeting with the expert sessions, postgraduate courses, workshops, sponsored sessions and, of course, free oral communications and poster presentations.
Plenary Session
Sessions organised to present highlights and controversies.
Thematic Sessions
Presentation by key experts and well-known speakers on related topics. Each session is organised on the basis of two hours modules composed of three presentations of 25 minutes each plus 5 minute discussion, followed by a 30 minute lecture.
Invited Lectures
Presentation of high level “State of the Art” reviews (30 minute lecture followed by 5 minutes of discussion).
Round tables
An introduction by the moderator followed by a short presentations (10 minutes) by each panelist.
Meeting with the Experts
These 60 minute sessions are organised to present topics with clinical experts who will share practical experience with physicians and nurses. Interaction between experts and the audience is strongly encouraged.
Postgraduate Courses
The Congress Committees are organising postgraduate courses that will be held before the core Congress programme. These courses will have a limited number of participants. The Organising Secretariats reserve the right to cancel courses in case of insufficient number of registered participants.
Workshops
Practical hands-on sessions for a limited number of participants.
Abstract Presentations
The Congress Committees intend to emphasise the importance of this essential part of the Congress. The presentation of research studies communicating results is highly appreciated. Abstracts have to be submitted to the Organising Secretariat using the online submission form by March 31, 2009. Abstract received after this date will not be considered by the Scientific Committee. Please refer to the Abstracs section for details. All accepted abstracts will be published as a supplement issue of the SIAARTI official journal, Minerva Anestesiologica.
Oral Communication
Oral presentation of 5 subsequent abstracts. Each presenter is allowed a 10 minute presentation followed by a 5 minute discussion with the audience.
Poster sessions
Posters will be displayed in the poster areas in the Congress Centre. Poster sessions include a poster viewing and discussion period, during which at least the presenting authors stand beside their poster. The usable surface of the display boards measures 100 cm (height) x 150 cm (width). Pins and adhesive material will be provided.
Awards
Distinguished abstracts presented as oral communication or poster presentations will receive an award support by the Congress Committees or the Industry.
